Let’s Gooooo! Come join fellow cyclists for a fun roll around the local roads! A regularly occurring ride from now until we run out of daylight and the temps drop in the fall. Great post-ride fare available from local favorite, Kith and Kin!!
*New groups– In addition to the current ride options we are adding:
- The Every(wo)man group. By popular demand, a group for anyone that wants to get out for some exercise on a bicycle with no particular agenda, in the company of others. The route will be a combination of bike path and open (but quieter) roads and the speed will be whatever keeps everyone together, likely 12-15mph. Not sure, don’t want to “be last”, won’t know anybody etc. etc. just bring a like-minded friend and a good attitude (as well as the appropriate cycling gear listed below) and you’ll be in the game!
- Recumbent cyclists unite! This will be a new one on us, don’t think we’ve ever seen a recumbent group ride. But hey, happy to provide a gathering point for these 2 wheeled, human powered vehicles. Sounds like a bicycle to us! Admittedly lacking in knowledge of what makes a good recumbent ride we are going to let this ride be driven by it’s participants.
Location: Assabet River Bicycles, 90 Cherry St., Hudson, MA 01749
Start time: Rolling at 5:30pm. Which means arrive earlier to get your “stuff” ready so you can clip in and go at 5:30pm
- Assabet River Bicycles is open to ride participants should you need hydration, nutrition, changing room or bathroom
Ride time: 75-90min
Must bring, wear, and keep with you during the ride: Fully functioning road bicycle, bicycle helmet, flat tire repair kit, charged cell phone, mask, common sense, fun attitude
14-17mph: a no-drop ride with some group riding how-tos and etiquette, led by experienced riders, perfect for those newer to riding and who want to experience the fun of the group ride, safely
18-20mph: a mostly no-drop ride for stronger riders who are newer to group riding, don’t want to go with the fastest group or working their way up to the fastest group
21+mph: an attacking, drop ride for those looking for a great workout amongst like minded riders. Must also know your way around and see, “bring charged cell phone”
- No routes are posted at this time but all start and finish at Assabet River Bicycles
If you are riding with the group and decide to peel off to head to a finish location other than Assabet River Bicycles please let someone else on the ride know so we don’t think you are lost.
And yeah, ICYMI above, Kith and Kin will be bringing their food truck stocked with delicious post-ride food and drink!
